Autentica Car Parts is set to introduce a digital marketplace for 3D printable car parts. Operating from Sci-Tech Daresbury, Cheshire (UK), this platform grants Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) the capability to vend spare parts designs to authorized entities. A notable aspect is the employment of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) backed by blockchain to safeguard and validate design assets. This ensures genuine OEM replacements are acquired, and it bolsters IP protection by transmitting G-CODE tokens rather than 3D model files.
With support from Innovate UK, the platform underwent successful testing with 500 entities, among them OEMs and car dealers, and garnered collaboration from 600 global 3D printing service providers. Developed with the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and cloud tech firm Oracle, the system offers quicker access to spares, curtails storage expenses by 70%, and reduces transportation carbon footprints by 40%.
CEO of Autentica, Irma Gilbert, accentuates the transformative potential of combining additive manufacturing, distributed ledgers, and artificial intelligence for the spare parts supply chain. The platform will officially launch on November 1st, 2023, at Sci-Tech Daresbury.
