Roland DG recently released a new 3D printer. This printer is another addition to a range of entries focused specifically on dentistry. The DWP-80S uses a proprietary projector lens, which cures resin materials with UV-LED lighting. Roland DG’s new Quick Denta software comes bundled with the printer as well, allowing custom trays, base plates, and frameworks to all be 3D printed.
Quick Denta Software
Quick Denta software gives users a 3-step production method. Once an STL is imported, Quick Denta software not only detects and heals errors but also does all the complex digital set-up for you.
Automatic Positioning
Setting up a file for 3D printing is no longer a manual process. Quick Denta automatically adjusts 3D data to produce the most efficient and stable position on the DWP-80S work surface.
Automatic Support Generation
Quick Denta software also automatically generates support structures during post processing.
Error Detection and 3D Mesh Healing
Additionally, users can choose to let the software automatically detect and repair minor errors during the STL importing process, without the need to return to the CAD software.
Price
This printer is a new addition to Roland DG’s DWX line of dental additive manufacturing devices. It is also the first launch from Roland DG subsidiary “DGShape”. DGShape was a brand created specifically for dental appliances like this. The printer is priced at $15,995, however, it can be leased for $320 a month.
Sadly, the printer does not have Linux or Mac OS compatibility (judging by the information provided). Like most dental 3D printers it is quite tiny. The build envelope is 3.15 (W) x 3.15 (D) x 3.15 (H) inches.
