Late reply so maybe pointless now, but my understanding is it’s a 50$ “ticket” that allows up to 1 Kg of material to be processed. Max size of roughly 10″ x 12″ for any individual piece (or might be for the batch, I don’t know for sure never tried a piece that big).

Comment on Here’s Why 3D Printers With 5 or 6 Axes Will Be the Next Big Milestone for 3D Printing - 3DPrinting.com by Jan Schuurmans https://3dprinting.com/news/why-3d-printers-with-5-or-6-axes-will-be-the-next-big-milestone-for-3d-printing/#comment-450658 Fri, 08 Apr 2022 07:20:25 +0000 https://com3dp-gjellerup.savviihq.com/?p=12513#comment-450658 Excellent article! Concerning your hurdle ‘The biggest obstacle of adding axes is the complexity of the software’, I would like to mention that we have developed the software to do this between 2018 and 2020, and it is called the ‘5 Axis Slicer’. This software has been used by ourselves to print compelx plastic parts on a 5-Axis printer, but it has also been used by many other companies to print with steel, and plastics.
Furthermore, there are more advantages to multi-axes printing: it allows for more rounded shapes (very important for food industry), multi-material printing (e.g. copper on top of steel, interesting for aerospace among others), and there are advantages we have not yet discovered!

Clearly you’d have to do this in a vacuum, to prevent interference. The requisite detail to finished items would be extraordinarily difficult to attain at nominal velocities availing sufficient centrifugal force to firmly mold plasma.

I also miss that 3D printing allows for multiple parts to be integrated, thus reducing the need for assembly, welding etc. Generative design is mentioned as it may result in 3D forms which cannot produced in any other way than 3D printing but I would say generative design is an extreme: 3D printing already offers form and integration advantages in traditional design processes which do not use generative design.

That’s very insightful about the cooling rates in welding. We do something similar in dentistry with white fillings (they shrink as they cure), although I hadn’t heard the term backstepping. But for a material that shrinks and warps with temperature changes—yes, it’s got to be addressed, and I think backstepping is a great way to do it.

I am located in Ontario Canada so snow and long periods of minus temperatures unlike the UK are a consideration too, would insulation be required or an external cavity which foam can be injected perhaps. Both printers are great, although the clear winner is understandably the 3D45.

You can use many different materials and the print quality is top notch. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to start a new hobby.

I have used a Polaroid 3D printer before and can say that can’t touch this one with a 20ft pole.
